Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie said on April 23 that she is waiting for improvements to the megaprojects bill following its presentation and debate in the House. McCombie released a statement addressing the challenges facing Illinois and her hopes for further discussions as the legislation moves forward.
The issue matters because it involves major investments and development projects that could impact communities across Illinois. Lawmakers are considering how best to promote growth while ensuring reforms benefit both the state’s future and its families.
“Our state faces significant challenges that will not be fixed with half-baked measures intended to create movement, not progress. Illinois needs investment, development, and growth. Reform is needed to do it the right way, ones that benefit the future of our state and Illinois families. I look forward to having further conversations as this bill moves to the Senate,” McCombie said in her statement.
McCombie was elected as a Republican representative in 2023 for Illinois’ 89th House District, taking over from Andrew Chesney according to Ballotpedia.
As lawmakers continue their work on this legislation, further discussions are expected in the Senate. Observers will be watching closely to see what changes might be made before any final decisions.
