Megan Hewitt, a rising senior at Quad Cities Christian School, joined the Illinois House of Representatives as a Page for a Day on May 27. She was the guest of State Representative Dan Swanson.
“It was very nice to have Megan at the Capitol for the beginning of what promises to be a busy and interesting week,” Dan Swanson said. “She observed the annual Memorial Day ceremony, heard discussion of resolutions, and got to see the inner workings of the House.”
After graduation, Hewitt plans to attend college to become a physical therapist. She is active in National Honor Society and the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy, participates in student council and basketball, has served as soccer team manager for three years, and has been newsletter designer and co-editor for two years. She also volunteers at River City Church and helps at the John Deere Classic golf tournament each summer. Her mother, Annie, accompanied her during her visit to Springfield.
Swanson was elected to represent Illinois’ 71st House District in 2023 after replacing former state representative Donald L. Moffitt, according to Ballotpedia.
Residents of the 71st District can find more news about legislative activities and upcoming events on Representative Swanson’s website.
