Illinois State Representative Jackie Haas said on May 25 that Memorial Day is a time to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. “May we never forget the reason for the Memorial Day holiday, to honor all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be free. We may not know them all, but we owe them all. Be sure to take a moment today to remember our fallen military heroes,” Haas said.
Haas represents Illinois’ 79th House District and was elected in 2020 as a Republican, replacing previous state representative Lindsay Parkhurst, according to public records.
Memorial Day is observed nationwide as a day of remembrance for members of the armed forces who died in service. The holiday encourages citizens to reflect on the contributions and sacrifices made by military personnel throughout history.
Haas’s message calls on residents to pause and pay tribute to fallen service members during Memorial Day observances.
