Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull, an assisted living and memory care community operated by Benchmark Senior Living, was recognized on April 27 as one of the top senior living communities in Connecticut and the United States in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Senior Living ratings.

This recognition highlights the importance of resident and family feedback in evaluating senior care facilities. Middlebrook Farms distinguished itself through strong survey responses, making it the only community in the greater Trumbull area to receive this honor.

The community earned “Best” status with top ratings for both Assisted Living and Memory Care, reflecting high marks for safety, quality of care, leadership, staff performance, value, and overall resident experience. “This recognition is a testament to the trust that residents and their families place in us and the extraordinary work of our associates,” said Tom Grape, founder, chairman and CEO of Benchmark Senior Living. “At Benchmark, we are driven every day to raise the standard for what senior living can and should be – creating communities where seniors truly thrive.”

Middlebrook Farms has provided care for over 28 years at its location near Merritt Parkway and I-25. The facility offers a range of services from independent assisted living to specialized memory care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Residents have access to private apartments, chef-prepared meals served all day, healthcare services on site, transportation options, wellness programs in common spaces such as fitness centers or libraries—and personalized support available around-the-clock when needed.

The Mind & Memory Care program features a secure neighborhood designed to foster independence while providing needs-based support from specially trained staff members. Daily programs focus on cognitive function as well as overall well-being.

U.S. News & World Report has evaluated critical life decisions such as colleges or hospitals for more than three decades; its Best Senior Living ratings use data-driven analysis based on extensive survey feedback nationwide. Only communities meeting rigorous standards earn a “Best” designation each year.

Ben Harder—managing editor and chief of health analysis at U.S. News—said: “Choosing a senior living community is a significant life decision for older adults and their families. U.S. News’ Best Senior Living ratings provide a transparent, data-driven tool to help families identify the highest-quality care available… We commend the communities that have earned this distinction which reflects a deep commitment to resident well-being and exceptional service.”
