Millikin track and field teams win multiple events at home alumni meet

Millikin University’s men’s and women’s track and field teams hosted the annual Big Blue Alumni Meet on April 24 at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Illinois.

The event saw Millikin athletes secure victories in several categories. The men’s team won four events, with Emmanuel Nwatu taking first place in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a time of 15.03 seconds. Brock Richards finished first in the 1500 Meters, clocking in at 3:58.53, while Aaron Mohr won the 800 Meters with a time of 1:56.04. Jack Fisher claimed victory in the 5000 Meters, finishing in 15:39.72.

On the women’s side, Millikin athletes finished first in seven events. Hannah Sago led her team by winning the High Jump with a mark of 1.65 meters (5-5), which ranks as the second-best performance all-time for Millikin in that event. Ella Neihls took first place in Triple Jump at 10.24 meters (33-7¼), Audrey Remole won Long Jump at 5.04 meters (16-6½), and Kiley Cofer secured victory in the 1500 Meter with a time of 1:00.82.

Additional winners included Zena Roberts who finished first in the Women’s 100 Meters (13.03 seconds) and Brynn Behrmann who won the Women’s 5000 Meters (19:28.68). The relay team of Alayana Shultz, Kiley Cofer, Lindsey Klaus, and Zena Roberts took top honors in the Women’s 4×400 Relay with a finish of 4:21.56.

The meet also featured several performances that ranked among Millikin’s all-time bests; Hunter Danberry threw for sixth all-time distance on Hammer for men at 51.01 meters (167-4). Jack Fisher’s result placed him sixth all-time for Men’s Outdoor Track & Field at Millikin for his performance on AprilĀ 24th.

Next up for both teams is participation at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Track and Field Championships scheduled to take place MayĀ 1–2 at Carthage College.
