Eastern Illinois University’s beach volleyball team earned its second Ohio Valley Conference Pair of the Week award in program history, according to an April 15 announcement. The recognition was given to Tori Mohesky and Alanys Nieves after their undefeated performance at the Austin Peay Tournament.

This achievement highlights a milestone for Eastern Illinois University, as it marks only the second time the program has received this weekly honor. The first occurrence was in 2024 when Natalie Mitchem and Masyn Navarro were recognized.

Mohesky and Nieves finished last weekend with a perfect 4-0 record, setting a new benchmark for best weekend performance in EIU Beach Volleyball history. Their efforts included a win over Missouri State, described as a powerhouse beach volleyball program. In matches against both Austin Peay and Missouri State, Mohesky and Nieves were the only Eastern Illinois pair to secure victories.

The duo began their weekend with a hard-fought three-set win against Tennessee Tech, with scores of 21-12, 15-21, and 15-10. They continued by defeating Austin Peay in straight sets (21-16, 21-14). On the tournament’s second day, they beat Southwest Baptist also in two sets (21-9, 21-14).

Their final match saw them overcome Missouri State in three sets: winning the first set 21-18, dropping the second set 19-21, but clinching victory with a decisive third set score of 15-9.
