The Montgomery Beautification Committee announced on June 1 that it is inviting residents to participate in its annual Floral Display Awards & Recognition Program. The initiative encourages community members to celebrate local landscaping efforts by nominating properties with outstanding floral displays.

“Each year, we see incredible displays of color and creativity throughout Montgomery,” said Village Trustee Ben Brzoska. “Many residents put a great deal of care into their landscaping, and this program gives us an opportunity to recognize those efforts and showcase the pride people take in their homes and neighborhoods.”

Eligible displays must feature predominantly live plants, including both annual and perennial flowers planted in garden beds or containers. The committee will evaluate how each display enhances the property’s overall curb appeal.

Residents can nominate either their own property or a neighbor’s by submitting the address through the Village website. On Wednesday evening, June 17, committee members and volunteer judges will visit all nominated properties to select award recipients. Winning properties will receive recognition signs placed in front of them that evening; recipients are asked to keep these signs displayed for at least two weeks.

“Beautiful landscaping does more than brighten a yard—it strengthens neighborhood pride and contributes to the character of our community,” Brzoska said. “We are fortunate to have residents who invest so much time and care in their properties, and this program is a way to thank them for helping make Montgomery such a welcoming and attractive place to live.”

Nominations for the Floral Display Awards & Recognition Program will be accepted through Sunday, June 14 via montgomeryil.org.
