Motorola Solutions announced on May 14 its first-ever public safety agency recognitions during Summit 2026, highlighting the work of first responders and agencies whose actions and use of technology helped save lives.
The awards were created to recognize public safety professionals for their technical skills, courage, composure, and innovation in crisis situations. A committee of 15 public safety officials selected recipients from among their peers.
Lashinda Stair, retired first assistant chief of the Detroit Police Department and Motorola Solutions industry team director, said: “The most heroic acts in public safety often go underrecognized because the mission is always the focus, never the spotlight. Motorola Solutions is proud to provide a platform for public safety professionals to recognize their peers for innovation and actions that help protect cities and save lives.”
Honorees included Louisville MetroSafe 911 in Kentucky for managing emergency calls during a plane crash; Chula Vista Police Department in California for using drones to assist with a vehicle fire rescue; St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office in Florida for controlling a manhunt during a major event; Martyna Wohner from Louisville MetroSafe 911 for keeping a truck driver calm during a dangerous incident; Angia Hannibal from Grant County Emergency Communications Agency in Oregon for coordinating wildfire evacuations; Smith County Sheriff’s Office in Texas for integrating live cameras and floor plans to improve school security responses; and Patrol Corporal Brandon Feldman from Nampa Police Department in Idaho for solving a homicide investigation using real-time technology.
