Music on Grand, the Village of Brookfield’s annual summer music event, will return to downtown Brookfield on the final weekends of June, July, August and September, according to a May 18 announcement.

The event is designed to bring residents and visitors together for live music and expanded outdoor dining in the heart of downtown. During Music on Grand weekends, from Friday through Sunday, the southern half of the 3700 block of Grand Boulevard will be closed to traffic so that restaurants and bars can increase their outdoor seating.

On Saturdays starting at 12:30 p.m., bands will perform on a stage set up at the south end of Grand Boulevard until 10:30 p.m. This year’s headliners include Hillbilly Rockstarz (Country) on June 27, Free Fallin (Tom Petty Tribute) on July 25, 90’s Pop Nation (1990s Pop/Rock) on August 29, and Yacht Rock-ettes (Yacht Rock) on September 26. The event is free and open to the public.

Local musicians are invited to apply for afternoon opening sets during each Music on Grand date. Interested bands or solo artists can submit their information—including links to their music and a brief artist description—to Parks and Recreation Director Matt Odom at modom@brookfieldil.gov. Performers will be given sound support and stage time without any participation fee.

Brookfield operates as a municipal local government focused on delivering civic administration, public works, safety measures, community services such as utility billing and permitting for residents within its boundaries according to the official website.

The broader impact of Music on Grand is seen in its role supporting local businesses along not only Grand Boulevard but also Prairie Avenue, Brookfield Avenue and Burlington Avenue by attracting crowds throughout the summer months.
