The National Association of Realtors announced on April 21 its first quarterly update to the 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, highlighting early progress and ongoing efforts to support members. The association said it has started two-thirds of the projects outlined in the plan during the first quarter, with initial achievements focused on affordable housing, promoting the REALTOR brand, and strengthening broker relationships.
The update matters because it demonstrates how the association is responding to member feedback and aiming for greater transparency in its operations. Projects are designed based on research into what members need most from their professional organization.
“This plan was built for action,” said Nykia Wright, CEO of the National Association of Realtors. “Rebuilding trust requires more than words—it requires visible progress. That’s why we’re committed to sharing clear, regular updates that show members how this work is making a real difference.”
Kevin Brown, NAR President, also addressed member involvement by saying: “Members are actively shaping this work. From education to governance to housing supply, REALTORS are directly influencing the decisions and work that matter most to the industry.”
In addition to affordable housing initiatives and brand development, other projects focus on modernizing education platforms, building corporate partnerships, improving relationships with Multiple Listing Services (MLS), and updating governance structures. These efforts reflect input gathered from committee participation and focus groups among REALTOR members.
Looking ahead to the second quarter of implementation, NAR plans further improvements in education offerings as well as continued advocacy activities and collaboration with state associations and MLS partners.
According to the official website, NAR supports diversity and inclusion within real estate; encompasses around 1,200 local boards along with 54 state and territorial associations; works toward empowering professionals in protecting property rights; delivers resources such as research data, advocacy tools, educational opportunities and news updates; functions as a leading trade group for real estate professionals; maintains headquarters in Chicago with an additional office in Washington D.C.
