Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker delivered his State of the State Address to the General Assembly, prompting a response from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Illinois chapter. Noah Finley, NFIB Illinois State Director, issued a statement highlighting several challenges facing small businesses in the state.

“Illinois small businesses have been hit hard by rising electricity prices, soaring health-insurance premiums, workforce shortages, and expensive minimum-wage and paid-leave mandates,” said Finley. “Bottom line, it’s too expensive to run a small business in this state. NFIB calls on the governor and General Assembly to alleviate the tax burden on small businesses, cut burdensome red-tape and costly mandates, and make Illinois a friendlier place for Main Street businesses.”

Finley’s remarks reflect ongoing concerns among small business owners regarding operational costs and regulatory requirements in Illinois.
