State Representative Adam Niemerg called on May 18 for the resignation of Aurora Mayor John Laesch after allegations surfaced that the mayor shared the live locations of federal immigration agents operating in Aurora. The issue drew national attention following posts and videos circulated online, including footage from the Libs of TikTok social media account, which accused Laesch of ‘doxxing’ Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and tracking their movements.

Niemerg, who serves on the Immigration and Human Rights Committee, said this situation is concerning because it may compromise law enforcement activities. “It’s terrible to see elected officials do this to federal immigration authorities who are just out on the street trying to arrest violent illegal immigrants,” Niemerg told The Center Square. “They have to worry about elected officials posting their locations or getting in the way during an apprehension.”

The term ‘doxing’ refers to publicly revealing private or personally identifiable information online without consent, often with intent to intimidate or harass. This practice can put individuals at risk by exposing sensitive details such as addresses or phone numbers.

Niemerg was elected as a Republican member of the Illinois State House in 2023, representing the state’s 102nd House District after replacing former state representative Darren Bailey, according to the Illinois General Assembly.

The controversy has highlighted concerns about public officials’ responsibilities regarding sensitive information and law enforcement operations.
