State Representative Adam Niemerg voted against the Fiscal Year 2027 state budget in Springfield, reporting on June 1 that the $55.9 billion plan is the largest in Illinois history. Niemerg said the budget includes $800 million in tax and fee increases, $410 million for programs for illegal immigrants, hundreds of millions allocated to what he called Democrat pork projects, and a pay raise for politicians.
“It’s become crystal clear that Governor Pritzker does not care about Illinois taxpayers. Year after year, he signs budgets that spend more, tax more, and asks working families and job creators to carry an even heavier burden. Since taking office, Governor Pritzker has overseen the largest budgets, the highest spending, and some of the highest tax burdens in the nation. I voted no,” Niemerg said.
The new budget marks another record high for state spending under Governor J.B. Pritzker’s administration. The plan was approved amid ongoing debates over fiscal responsibility and priorities in state government.
Niemerg represents Illinois’ 102nd House District as a Republican after being elected to replace Darren Bailey in 2023, according to RepNiemerg.com.
