Northwestern University honored more than 140 faculty members who received significant external recognition from societies and agencies around the world, according to a March 6 announcement.
The Faculty Recognition Dinner, hosted by Interim President Henry Bienen and Provost Kathleen Hagerty on April 9 at the Kellogg Global Hub, acknowledged the achievements of these faculty. This event highlighted the importance of such accolades not only for their prestige but also for what they represent in advancing knowledge and progress.
This year, a total of 143 faculty members were recognized for receiving 156 awards at various stages in their careers. These included honors from several National Academies as well as a Nobel Prize.
“We recognize these accolades not only for their prestige, but because of what they represent — the brilliance of our faculty and the knowledge and tools for human progress you bring into the world,” President Bienen said during the event.
Joel Mokyr, Robert H. Strotz Professor of Arts and Sciences and professor of economics and history in Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, delivered the keynote address. Mokyr recently received the 2025 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences.
