Jack Novak and AJ Weller of Illinois Wesleyan University were named to the D3baseball.com All-Region 8 Team and the ABCA/Rawlings Division III All-Region teams, according to an announcement by the organizations on May 26. This marks the first regional honor for both players.
Novak, a junior who started in 25 games for the Titans this season, was selected as a first team honoree by D3baseball.com and earned second team honors from ABCA/Rawlings. He led his team with a .473 batting average and a .725 slugging percentage, contributing 43 hits, 27 runs, and seven doubles in 91 at-bats. Novak is also noted as the first Illinois Wesleyan player to earn first team recognition from D3baseball.com since Nick Figus received it in 2019.
Weller, a sophomore in his first season with Illinois Wesleyan, was named to the ABCA/Rawlings Region VIII Third Team. He led the Titans with 173 at-bats and six triples while maintaining a .590 slugging percentage. Weller played in all 40 games this season, recording a team-high 66 hits and scoring 38 runs. He was also recognized as Second Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) honoree and twice earned CCIW Hitter of the Week honors.
The release notes that both Novak’s selection as First Team All-CCIW honoree and Weller’s statistical achievements contributed significantly to their respective recognitions during this campaign.
The D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings All-American teams are scheduled for release on Thursday, May 28.
