City Council approved $270,000 in Open Space Impact Fee funding on Apr. 15 to support the construction of the Territory Community Garden in Austin. The new garden will be located at a former City lot at 557 North Central Avenue and is being developed by the nonprofit group Territory.

The funding will cover all project costs, including landscaping, walkways, and other amenities planned for the site. The Open Space Impact Fee program uses fees collected from residential construction projects to pay for improvements that address increased demand on parks and open spaces as more residents move into neighborhoods.
