Ostro and Scarlett named Summit League tennis peak performers of the week

Illinois State University’s No. 2 doubles team, Tin Ostro and Caden Scarlett, were recognized as Summit League Tennis Peak Performers of the Week, league officials announced on April 21.

This recognition highlights their recent performances that contributed to Illinois State Redbirds securing a spot in the upcoming Summit League Men’s Tennis Championship. Ostro and Scarlett’s achievement marks their first doubles honor this season. They join other honorees including Denver’s Raffaello Papajcik for men’s singles, St. Thomas’ Caroline Lindahl for women’s singles, and Omaha’s Katelynn Kock and Nina Wiese for women’s doubles.

Last week, Ostro and Scarlett went undefeated as a pair in matches against Omaha and North Dakota. Their victories helped Illinois State win the doubles point in both contests. On Wednesday, they achieved a 6-2 win over Anthony Scheglowski and Liam Spiers from Omaha during a match that secured Illinois State’s place in the championship tournament. On Saturday, they followed with a 6-3 victory against North Dakota’s Justin Ilic and Kotaro Matsumura.

Illinois State Redbirds will compete as the No. 4 seed at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center from April 24 to April 25 at the University of Tulsa, facing top-seeded Denver Pioneers in Friday’s semifinal round.
