The Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Golf Championship will begin on April 19 at the Dalton Golf and Country Club in Dalton, Georgia. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is scheduled to run through April 21 and marks the first time the event has been held at this course.
The championship brings together nine teams: Bryant, Eastern Illinois, Lindenwood, Little Rock, Morehead State, Southern Indiana, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and Western Illinois. Teams are set for a practice round on Saturday before competition starts Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
Dalton Golf and Country Club features an 18-hole course redesigned by architect Bill Bergin in 2020. The venue dates back to 1912 and has previously hosted other conference championships. It is also scheduled to host the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship in both 2027 and 2028.
Eastern Illinois University’s best team finish at the OVC Championships was second place during the 2003 season. Carrie Riordan won individual medalist honors in the event in 2009. This season’s EIU team leaders include Mya Mirocha and Meera Upadhyay with stroke averages of 82.0; freshman Addison Kenney was EIU’s top finisher last week at the Indiana State Spring Invite while transfer Sophia Miller led EIU in three other spring tournaments.
Award announcements for All-OVC Teams as well as Freshman of the Year will be made prior to Saturday’s practice round. Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, All-Tournament Team members and Tournament MVP will be named after play concludes on Monday.
