Pinckneyville Community Hospital was recognized on Apr. 29 with the Traveling STEMI Trophy by Southern Illinois Healthcare, highlighting its performance in emergency cardiac care. The award is given to hospitals within the STAT Heart network that excel in evaluating, treating, and transporting patients experiencing ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI), a serious type of heart attack.

The recognition underscores the importance of rapid response for heart attack patients, where every minute can affect survival and recovery. Pinckneyville Community Hospital achieved a door-to-reperfusion time of 87 minutes, surpassing both the national benchmark of 120 minutes and Southern Illinois Healthcare’s internal goal of under 90 minutes.
