Mung Chiang, recently named president-elect of Northwestern University, visited the campus to participate in Wildcat weekend activities and tour university facilities.

Chiang attended a lacrosse match at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium on Sunday, where he joined more than 8,000 fans as the Wildcats defeated North Carolina to secure the program’s ninth lacrosse title. During his visit, Pat Ryan Jr. and Mark Jackson, Combe Family Vice President for Athletics and Recreation, accompanied Chiang while sharing plans for future gameday experiences and showing him progress on the new Ryan Field stadium.

Reflecting on his appointment last week, Chiang said, “Every great institution has its own culture and distinct traditions, and I am looking forward to learning Northwestern’s. Our purple is proudly unique, and there is no university quite like Northwestern. I am truly excited to join the Northwestern community.”

Chiang’s visit marks one of his first public appearances since being named president-elect. The event highlighted both athletic achievement by the women’s lacrosse team and ongoing developments in campus infrastructure.

Photos from the event were provided by Shane Collins and Northwestern Athletics.
