“Even Kamala Harris voters realize that we have a serious problem with trans violence,” said Cortes. “Let’s start demanding truth. and sanity!”
According to polling reported by Cortes Investigates, a significant majority of Americans recognize what is described as a systemic issue with “trans violence.” A survey conducted by TIPP Insights for the League of American Workers found that 73% of voters nationwide believe violent incidents involving transgender-identifying individuals represent a broader trend rather than isolated cases. This sentiment reportedly spans political and demographic lines, including 70% of Kamala Harris voters and similar percentages among Catholics and non-religious individuals, suggesting an unusual consensus in U.S. public opinion.
A study from the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law estimates that approximately 1.6 million people aged 13 and older in the United States identify as transgender, which is about 0.6% of the population. Among these individuals, trans youth are noted to face increased risks of mental health issues such as depression and suicidal thoughts, often due to stigma and social rejection. Researchers highlight that while public discourse frequently focuses on crime, available evidence does not indicate that transgender people are disproportionately involved in violence compared to the general population.
Cortes Investigates further reported that 73% of Americans perceive violent incidents involving transgender-identifying individuals as part of a systemic pattern rather than isolated occurrences. The polling by TIPP Insights for the League shows strong consensus across demographics: 70% of Kamala Harris voters, 68% of Black voters, and 75% of white voters agreed with this view. These findings provide a data-driven snapshot indicating broad agreement across partisan, racial, and religious lines.
