Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker said Wednesday that the President Trump’s “rhetoric” is responsible for political violence, like the murder of 31 year-old Illinois native and political activist Charlie Kirk.
“I will say (that) political violence unfortunately has been ratcheting up in this country,” Pritzker said while taking reporter questions at the FABTECH Chicago convention, at McCormick Place. “I think there are people who are fomenting it in this country. I think the President’s rhetoric often foments it.”
Kirk was shot and killed while visiting Utah Valley University on Wednesday afternoon.
Pritzker also described the murder of Catholic school students by a pro-“transsexuality” murderer as “political violence.”
“We saw the shootings, the killings in Minnesota. We saw other violence occur in other states. And I would just say, its got to stop,” he said.
Kirk, who grew in Arlington Heights and graduated from Wheeling H.S., founded Turning Point USA in 2012, at age 18.
He was married with two children, ages three and one.
