Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA) participated in a parade during the Royal Block Party on May 2, held in Front Royal, Virginia, to honor King Charles III and Queen Camilla during their state visit to the United States.
The event highlighted music, leadership, tradition, and transatlantic friendship by featuring performances from R-MA’s band, Color Guard, and Regimental Staff. Students from Skyline High School and Warren County High School also performed at the celebration. The occasion brought together local citizens, community leaders, and distinguished guests for what organizers described as an unprecedented event.
Lucy Hooper, president of R-MA’s board of trustees said: “Randolph-Macon Academy stands at the crossroads of history, leadership and opportunity. Welcoming Their Majesties into a setting that celebrates service, scholarship and young people working to meet the future is both a privilege and a moment of considerable significance for our Academy, our town and our region. This event showed the world what Yellow Jackets mean by the power to rise.” Cadet Colonel Rania Husted ’26 commented: “I feel incredibly honored that R-MA was invited to such a historic event. More than anything I am proud of my classmates. Their hard work and dedication were evident during our performance—and I hope we also made our Front Royal community proud.” Sergeant Major Bijou Kebbay ’27 added: “Everyone was nervous—it was the king and queen of the United Kingdom—of course they were nervous! But it was so beautiful seeing how everyone came together to support each other—and make sure everyone shined.”
Founded in 1892 on a campus in Shenandoah Valley spanning 135 acres, Randolph-Macon Academy offers academic programs for students from grades eight through twelve as well as post-graduate opportunities.
