The Village of Pingree Grove announced on Apr. 17 that Reinking Road is now closed between Public Street and US Route 20 due to the Elgin/Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) roundabout construction project, which is expected to last through September 2026.

This closure will affect local traffic and travel patterns in the area for an extended period. Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan ahead and seek alternate routes during this time.

Detour maps have been made available by the village to assist drivers in navigating around the construction zone. The maps can be accessed online at https://www.villageofpingreegrove.org/DocumentCenter/View/3831/Rt-20_Reinking_Roundabout_Detour-Maps_2025?fbclid=IwY2xjawQ8w11leHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFiTXBnSEJPbk9FQThMZ2Fmc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHiyT3ts_Ngvq5Ekab_qStQ7h3V6NpGddaRm-bCadyZfR6HVP0chW9HRUhIct_aem_L-MVJ_yHoPTfhQ0SWhDcWw.

The roundabout project is part of ongoing efforts by Elgin and IDOT to improve traffic flow and safety in the region. Construction projects like these can cause inconvenience but are intended to provide long-term benefits for motorists once completed.

Further updates on road closures or changes related to this project will be provided by local authorities as work progresses.
