State Representative Brad Fritts announced on April 30 that he will host a drive for the safe disposal of residential sharps and prescription medications. The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Dixon Township Building located at 315 Highland Avenue in Dixon.

The initiative aims to provide residents with a secure way to dispose of unused or expired medications and sharps, helping to improve community safety. The drive is organized in partnership with the Lee County Health Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Dixon Police Department, and Dixon Township.

“We invite all local residents to safely dispose of their residential sharps and unused, expired, or unneeded prescription medications at our upcoming Sharps and Rx Drop-Off Drive!” said Rep. Fritts. “This is an easy and convenient event – providing two services in one location. I look forward to working alongside our partners to make our homes and community safer!”

Accepted items include tablets, capsules, solid forms of prescriptions, patches, residential sharps, vitamins, vaping devices without lithium batteries, pet medications, and prescription ointments. Liquids such as intravenous solutions and illegal drugs will not be accepted.

Fritts was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois’ 74th House District in 2023 after replacing Dan Swanson according to available records.

Residents with questions can contact Rep. Fritts’ district office at 815-561-3690 EXT 2 or visit RepFritts.com for more information.
