State Representative Dennis Tipsword Jr. (R-Metamora) recognized National Police Week, which runs through May 16, in a statement released May 12. Tipsword has served as a law enforcement officer for more than three decades and is currently the Chief Deputy in the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office.
National Police Week brings together organizations that honor members of America’s law enforcement community and provides an opportunity to remember officers who have died in the line of duty. Last week, the Illinois Peace Officer Memorial ceremony took place at the State Capitol, drawing thousands who paid their respects to fallen officers.
“I want to pay special tribute to all of the brave men and women who choose to serve their communities as police officers,” Rep. Tipsword stated. “Your bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication are an inspiration, and I am proud to call you my brothers and sisters. We took an oath to serve and protect, and we will always honor that code.”
Tipsword represents Illinois House District 105 after being elected in 2023 as a Republican; he succeeded former state representative Dan Brady, according to RepTipsword.com.
