State Representative Jackie Haas recognized Meineke Car Care Center in Bourbonnais as her May Local Business Spotlight, according to a May 14 announcement. Haas toured the business and presented owner William Perakis with a certificate of appreciation for his service to the community.
The recognition highlights the role of locally owned businesses in supporting the local economy and contributing to community life. “For nearly two decades, Meineke Car Care Center has served Kankakee County with reliable service,” said Rep. Haas. “Locally owned businesses like Meineke help keep our economy moving.”
Perakis purchased the shop in 2006 from its original owner due to its strong reputation and customer base, and has since expanded its reach. The Bourbonnais location is currently ranked as the top Meineke franchise in Illinois, second in the Midwest, and sixteenth nationwide.
Meineke Car Care Center provides various automotive services such as oil changes, brakes, tires and wheels, exhaust work, air conditioning services, and tune-ups.
Haas also commended the business for its community involvement: “I am proud to recognize a business that not only takes care of its customers but also gives back to the community. They support local festivals, the race track, local car shows, Olivet Nazarene University, and Kankakee Community College through donations of both time and money. Their commitment to quality service, their employees, and the broader Kankakee County community is exactly why I am honored to highlight them this month.”
Haas was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois’ 79th House District in 2020 after replacing Lindsay Parkhurst, according to Ballotpedia.
