State Representative Jeff Keicher announced on May 7 that a resolution to honor DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputy Christina “Beana” Musil has passed committee in the Illinois House. The measure, Senate Joint Resolution 35, would designate State Route 23 from Perry Road to McGirr Road as the “Deputy Sheriff Christina Musil Memorial Highway.”

The resolution aims to recognize Deputy Musil’s service and commemorate her contributions to the community. Keicher said, “While naming a road in her honor is a small gesture, it is the least we can do to honor the life of someone who helped so many others. She set an incredible example for her children and our community. May her memory live on.”

Keicher also acknowledged those involved in advancing the resolution, stating, “I want to thank State Senator Sue Rezin for carrying the resolution in the Senate and IDOT for their assistance in making this designation a reality.” He added his appreciation for law enforcement officers and first responders: “Thank you to all our law enforcement and first responders for your selfless service and sacrifice to protect our communities.”

Keicher has represented Illinois’ 70th House District since being elected in 2018 as a Republican, succeeding Robert W. Pritchard, according to Ballotpedia.

The proposed highway designation is intended as a lasting tribute that will serve as a reminder of Deputy Musil’s impact on local residents.
