Illinois State Representative Dan Ugaste announced on April 27 that a prescription drug drop-off event in Elburn, co-hosted with Senator DeWitte’s office and the Elburn Police Department, resulted in the collection of four large boxes of unused medications.

The event aimed to provide residents with a safe way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs. Proper disposal is important for public safety and environmental protection, helping to prevent misuse or accidental ingestion.

Ugaste said, “We had a great turnout Saturday at our prescription drug drop-off event in Elburn, which was co-hosted by Sen. DeWitte’s office and the Elburn Police Department. We filled four large boxes of unused medications. Thank you to all who participated!”

Ugaste has served as a Republican member of the Illinois State House since 2019 after replacing former state representative Steven Andersson, according to public records.

The success of this collection effort reflects ongoing community engagement efforts by local lawmakers and law enforcement agencies. Similar events are expected to continue as part of broader initiatives encouraging safe medication disposal.
