Illinois State Representative Travis Weaver announced on Apr. 17 the start of his annual Community Clean-Up Project, encouraging students and classrooms in District 93 to participate. The initiative is designed to help keep local communities healthy and vibrant by involving young people in picking up trash.
The project aims to engage students in maintaining the cleanliness of their neighborhoods. Weaver said participants are invited to submit photos of themselves or their classes collecting bags of trash for a chance to receive a Certificate of Recognition from the General Assembly.
“This project aims to keep our communities healthy, beautiful, and vibrant, and you can do your part by picking up trash in a part of your community,” Weaver said. He added that all are welcome to participate, with a submission deadline set for Friday, May 22.
Weaver was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois’s 93rd House District in 2023, taking over from Norine Hammond according to Ballotpedia.
The Community Clean-Up Project offers an opportunity for students and residents alike to contribute directly toward improving their environment while being recognized for their efforts.
