Illinois State Representative Travis Weaver honored the life and legacy of NASCAR legend Kyle Busch on the House floor, according to a May 26 statement. Weaver said, “Last week on the House Floor, I was honored to recognize the life and legacy of NASCAR legend Kyle Busch. The world was stunned when we learned we had lost Kyle to a sudden, tragic illness. My heart goes out to the entire Busch family and everyone who knew him. Rest in Peace, Rowdy.”
Weaver’s remarks followed news of Busch’s passing from what he described as a sudden illness that surprised many in the racing community and beyond.
Weaver represents Illinois’ 93rd House District as a Republican after being elected in 2023, replacing previous state representative Norine Hammond, according to his office.
Kyle Busch was widely known within NASCAR circles for his accomplishments on the track and was often referred to by his nickname “Rowdy.” Weaver extended condolences to both Busch’s family and those who knew him personally.
The Illinois General Assembly occasionally recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions or whose lives have had an impact on communities throughout the state.
