State Representative Travis Weaver announced on April 16 the launch of his 2026 Community Clean-Up Project, which began this week and will continue through Friday, May 22.

The project aims to promote environmental awareness by encouraging people to collect and properly dispose of litter in their communities. It is open to everyone, with a special invitation for students and local school groups to participate.

According to the announcement, participants are asked to document their clean-up efforts by submitting photos of themselves with the trash they have collected. Students must have parent or guardian permission before picking up trash at a location of their choice. Those who fill a standard kitchen-size trash bag with litter can submit a photo via email and will receive a Certificate of Service from Rep. Weaver.

“The 2026 Community Clean-Up Project is a creative and fun initiative to preserve the beauty and well-being of our communities,” said Rep. Travis Weaver. “By working together, we can protect our environment and ensure a cleaner, healthier future for all. I encourage all to participate, including local school groups and classes.”

Weaver was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois State House District 93 in 2023, succeeding Norine Hammond according to Ballotpedia.

For more information about participating in the clean-up project or contacting Rep. Weaver’s office, individuals are encouraged to visit his website or call the district office.
