Illinois State Representative Travis Weaver welcomed Colton, a student, to the House floor as his page for the day on April 16. Weaver said that Colton is a highly motivated and hard-working student whom he met recently at the Capitol.
The event highlights efforts to involve young people in government and civic engagement. According to Weaver, “Colton is an extremely driven and hard-working student who I met recently at the Capitol. He continues to demonstrate outstanding leadership skills and owns a lawncare business, along with being the Global President of the Junior Economic Club and President of the Student Investment Philanthropic Organization.”
Weaver also said, “Young leaders like Colton give us hope for a bright future!”
Weaver was elected as a Republican representative to Illinois’ 93rd House District in 2023, succeeding Norine Hammond according to Ballotpedia.
The recognition of students such as Colton underscores ongoing efforts by state legislators to encourage youth participation in public service.
