Illinois College’s Riley Gardner was named the Midwest Conference Women’s Field Performer of the Week, according to an April 14 announcement from the league.
The recognition highlights Gardner’s recent performance in the high jump at the Greenville Select meet, where she tied her own school record with a height of 1.65 meters (5 feet, 5 inches). This mark places her first in the Midwest Conference and fourteenth nationally among competitors. Gardner is a freshman from Crawfordsville, Indiana.
This is the third time this year that Gardner has received this weekly honor from the conference. Illinois College Lady Blues Track and Field aims to deliver student-athletes opportunities for competition, growth, and scholarly achievement, according to the official website.
The program functions as a women’s track and field team within NCAA Division III and participates in events organized by the Midwest Conference according to its official website.
Illinois College will compete again this weekend at the Augustana Meet of Champions in Rock Island.
