Robert L. Tatroe, aged 98, passed away peacefully at Liberty Court Memory Care in Dixon, IL on September 23, 2025. A Navy veteran of the Asiatic Pacific Area, Tatroe served from 1944 to 1946 aboard the USS Holland. He retired after a 34-year career with the EJ&E Railroad and was known for his charitable work with St. Stephens Catholic Church in Joliet and St. Jude Catholic Church in New Lenox. Tatroe is survived by his three children, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on October 2, 2025, at Hickey Memorial Chapel in New Lenox, with a Funeral Mass at St Jude Catholic Church and entombment at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville to follow. Donations in Tatroe’s memory can be made to Unity Hospice in Rochelle, IL.
