Rep. Wayne Rosenthal and a group of legislators and staff toured the Scheels Sports Park at Legacy Pointe in Springfield this week to review progress on expansions and program development, according to a May 29 announcement.

Rosenthal said, “This is a great investment in the region that will attract local families and visitors to the Springfield area and be an economic engine for the recreational tourism segment of our local economy.”

The facility features what is described as the largest air-supported sports dome in the world, along with various outdoor facilities designed for athletes. The complex aims to serve as a year-round center for athletics, entertainment, and community engagement.

Rosenthal was elected as a Republican to represent Illinois’ 108th House District in 2023, replacing previous state representative Charles Meier, according to Rep. Wayne Rosenthal’s office.
