Saluki Men’s Basketball will host its annual golf scramble on Aug. 27 at Kokopelli Golf Club, with proceeds supporting the program, according to a May 7 announcement.

The event is co-sponsored by First Southern Bank and IBEW Local 720. Registration will open at 9 a.m., offering a grab-and-go breakfast before the tournament begins with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The scramble is limited to thirty teams of four players each, and the entry fee is $1,000 per team.

Each participant will receive a player gift, and prizes are planned for the team achieving the best score. After play concludes, attendees are invited to enjoy heavy appetizers and drinks at a reception where a silent auction will also take place. Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses and individuals interested in supporting Saluki men’s basketball.

Further details about registration and sponsorships will be announced soon. For more information about the event or how to participate, contact Cole Steward at coles@foundation.siu.edu.

Southern Illinois University Athletics oversees intercollegiate sports programs that compete in the Missouri Valley Conference and participate at the NCAA Division I level; facilities such as Banterra Center and Saluki Stadium are used by these teams. The department also maintains a Hall of Fame honoring outstanding contributors, and its nickname “Salukis” derives from an ancient Egyptian dog breed known for speed, grace, and endurance, according to the official website.
