Illinois College announced on May 14 that seven members of its baseball team earned All-Conference honors from the Midwest Conference following a season in which the Blueboys set a new school record for wins.
The recognition highlights a historic year for Illinois College Blue Boys Baseball, which finished with 26 victories and advanced to the championship series of the Midwest Conference Tournament. The program competes in NCAA Division III as part of the Midwest Conference and provides intercollegiate baseball opportunities for students, according to the official website.
Four players—Ketch Mills, Tyler Barker, Nathan Walker, and Logan Fleener—were selected to the First Team All-Conference squad. Mills set new single-season records at Illinois College with 73 hits and 74 RBIs, surpassing previous marks by significant margins. His RBI total also established a new conference record. Barker joined the program’s .400 batting average club by hitting .412 and set both single-season (41) and career (77) walk records. Walker hit .402 with 72 hits, ranking second all-time for single-season hits at Illinois College. Fleener posted strong offensive numbers in conference play with a .408 average and contributed defensively with a .975 fielding percentage.
Nicholas Muskopf, Chase Schrader, and Anthony Buonaura were named Second Team All-Conference honorees. Muskopf tied the school’s single-season triples record with five while adding notable extra-base hits throughout his first year on the team. Schrader led pitchers during conference play with a team-best earned run average of 3.06 over several starts. Buonaura completed conference play undefeated at 5-0 across six starts while matching a program record for starts in one season.
Illinois College Blue Boys Baseball utilizes Joe Brooks Baseball Field as its home venue and operates within college athletics as part of Illinois College’s athletics program, according to the official website.
The Blueboys’ performance this season surpassed previous win totals set in both 1995 and last year as they finished second in regular season standings before their postseason run.
