Illinois State Representative Dave Severin said on May 25 that Memorial Day should be a time to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. “May we never forget the reason for the Memorial Day holiday, to honor all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be free. We may not know them all, but we owe them all. Be sure to take a moment today to remember our fallen military heroes,” Severin said.

Severin also reminded visitors that his website is state-sponsored and funded, and campaign-related posts, content, and comments are prohibited by ethics regulations.

Severin, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state’s 116th House District, replacing previous state representative David Friess, according to the Illinois General Assembly.

The message comes as communities across Illinois and the nation prepare ceremonies and observances for Memorial Day.
