The Silver Cross Hospital Foundation announced on May 6 that its 35th Annual Silver Cross Charity Golf & Pickleball Classic will take place on June 22 at Crystal Tree Golf & Country Club in Orland Park. The event, presented by Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service, will feature both golf and pickleball activities, with golf participation already nearing capacity.

Proceeds from the event are set to support the creation of the “OR of the Future” at Silver Cross Hospital. This project aims to integrate advanced technology into surgical environments and enhance patient safety through thoughtful design.

Organizers said there are still limited golf spots available and encouraged individuals and corporate partners to consider pickleball participation or sponsorship opportunities, which have seen increased interest this year. Tracy Simons, CFRE, Executive Director of the Silver Cross Hospital Foundation, said: “Pickleball has quickly become one of the most popular and inclusive ways to participate in our event. It offers a fun, social atmosphere while still making a meaningful impact. At the same time, our underwriting sponsors play a critical role in ensuring that every dollar raised directly supports patient care.”

Participants can select morning or afternoon golf rounds or join the pickleball competition. The day’s schedule includes breakfast, lunch, contests, raffles, an evening reception and dinner. Highlights also include chances for participants to win a new D’Arcy automobile or $10,000 cash through hole-in-one contests.

Rudy Mahalik, Event Chair said: “We are proud to bring people together each year for a day of camaraderie, competition and philanthropy in support of Silver Cross. Whether you’re on the course, on the pickleball courts or supporting as a sponsor, every participant plays an important role in advancing care for our patients and community.”

A special part of this year’s event will be awarding J.L. Adler Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc., based in Joliet and led by Chris Adler, with the 2026 Silver Cross Corporate Citizen Award for their long-standing community leadership and philanthropic efforts supporting local organizations as well as direct contributions during events such as capital campaigns and during COVID-19.
