The Missouri Valley Conference announced on May 28 that 16 Southern Illinois University track and field athletes have been named to the conference’s Scholar-Athlete team.
To qualify for this recognition, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 and be at least sophomores. Additionally, they are required to have competed in six meets during the regular season—either indoor or outdoor—or placed in the top eight of an individual event or top three in a relay event at the MVC Championships.
The Southern Illinois honorees include Kyan Bell (Sport Administration), Ben Chance (Agribusiness Economics), Will Foltz (Civil Engineering), Henry Harsy (Architecture), Weston Jokerst (Mechanical Engineering), and Evan Redpath (Radio, TV, and Digital Media) on the men’s side; and Na’Kyrah Cooks (Sport Administration), Triniti Douglas (Political Science), Kyla Engel (Agribusiness Economics), Elise Greene (Exploratory), Riley Linville (Sport Administration), Finja Lorsbach, Allyson Niedfeldt (Biological Science), Kylee Weber (Physical Therapy Assistant), KeyAnn Wilson (Philosophy), and Jalynn Wood (Occupational Therapy) among women.
Southern Illinois Salukis Men’s Track and Field competes at the NCAA Division I level as part of the Missouri Valley Conference, utilizes the Lew Hartzog Track and Field Complex as its primary venue, functions as an NCAA Division I athletics program within the Missouri Valley Conference, and operates from Carbondale, Illinois, according to the official website.
