Indiana State capitalized on Saluki errors, scoring four runs in the first three innings—three of which were unearned after a dropped fly ball. Another error on a sacrifice bunt helped double Indiana State’s run total in the third inning. Despite an opportunity with bases loaded later that inning, Southern Illinois was unable to score as Carson Seeman entered from Indiana State’s bullpen and escaped without damage. Kristian Sprawling hit his second home run of the weekend for Southern Illinois, bringing in two runs. Gabe Petrucelli added another run with an infield single in the sixth inning, but strong defense from Indiana State—including five double plays—limited further scoring opportunities.
Dylan Petrey provided relief pitching for Southern Illinois, matching his Division I career-high with 4.2 innings and striking out six batters while allowing just one run before leaving late in the game. Charlie Miller took the loss as pitcher.
