This result matters as it continues a challenging stretch for the team, which has played seven of its last eight games on the road. In addition, Blake Kimball escaped trouble in the eighth inning with help from two notable defensive plays—one made by himself after recovering a wild pitch and tagging out a runner at home plate, and another by Kye Watson with a diving catch down the right-field line. Gio De Graauw took the loss for SIU and now holds an 0-2 record this season.
