The Southern Illinois University Salukis Women’s Softball team announced on April 16 that it will host Northern Iowa for a three-game series at Charlotte West Stadium in Carbondale, Illinois, starting with a doubleheader on Friday. The series will conclude on Saturday with Senior Day and the ‘Bark in the Park’ event, held in partnership with St. Francis CARE.
This event is significant as it honors seniors Erin Lee, Haley Wilkerson, and Brooklyn Pritchett after the final game of the series. Fans are invited to bring their dogs to Saturday’s game and participate in donation efforts for St. Francis CARE, which will have adoptable dogs available at the stadium.
The Salukis currently hold a record of 25-14 overall and are second in Missouri Valley Conference play at 14-5. Last weekend, Southern Illinois won two out of three games against Drake University. Notably, Maleah Blomenkamp hit her first two collegiate home runs during that series. Freshman pitcher Brooklynn Danielson was recognized as Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week after recording a 1.00 ERA across three appearances.
