Sparta Community Hospital announced on April 16 that nearly 100 team members were recognized by their colleagues in a recent appreciation campaign inspired by St. Patrick’s Day. The hospital received 130 shout-outs from staff, highlighting individuals who demonstrate dedication and support across all departments and shifts.

The initiative aimed to celebrate employees who embody what the hospital calls “Care With Purpose,” which emphasizes intentional care, teamwork, and putting people first. According to the announcement, this culture is reflected not only in the services provided but also in how staff interact with one another every day.

“At Sparta Community Hospital, we believe the way care is delivered matters just as much as the care itself. It’s in the extra moment someone takes to listen. The way a teammate steps in without being asked. The patience, compassion, and even humor that show up on the hardest days,” the statement said.

The hospital operates as a critical access facility and serves southwestern Illinois through several community clinics according to its official website. Its services include emergency care, surgery, orthopedics, cardiology, imaging, laboratory work and rehabilitation according to its official website. To further support community health needs, Sparta Community Hospital offers mobile clinics and patient-focused programs according to its official website.

In addition to its main location, Sparta Community Hospital extends healthcare access through clinics located in Coulterville, Marissa and Steeleville according to its official website. The hospital seeks to enhance well-being for area residents by delivering empathetic and cost-effective health care according to its official website.

Hospital leadership said that while not every employee could be named individually during this campaign, their collective impact is felt throughout all aspects of operations. “This isn’t just about those recognized—it’s about the culture we’re building together,” according to the statement.
