Residents in Illinois face some of the steepest cost of attending in-state colleges and universities in the U.S., according to a Higher Education Tribune analysis of federal data.
Illinois took the first steps toward getting rid of half of its $15 billion debt by issuing $1.5 billion in bonds on Tuesday, ahead of a plan to sell $4.5 billion more next week, according to a press release.
