Tinley Park, IL – Thomas Peter Vander Sanden, 88, of Tinley Park, Illinois, peacefully passed away on July 23, 2025, at his residence at Smith Crossing. Born on February 16, 1937, in Harrison, Wisconsin, to Martin and Alida Vander Sanden, Tom earned his engineering degree from Wausau Technical College and embarked on a fulfilling career as a mechanical engineer in Tinley Park, IL. He was an active and dedicated member of St. George Catholic Church, where his service on the Parish Council brought him immense joy.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Carol, and several siblings and in-laws. He is survived by his loving children: Scott, Ellen, Cheryl, Jean, Karen, and Steven, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His siblings Mary Ann Behling and Carl Vander Sanden, as well as several siblings-in-law, also cherish his memory.

A Funeral Mass will be held on August 4, 2025, at St. George Church in Tinley Park, with interment at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Orland Park. Visitation will take place on August 3, 2025, at Vandenberg Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. George Catholic Church, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of choice are encouraged.
