House Minority Leader Tony McCombie hosted the House Republicans’ annual Women to Watch event in Springfield on April 22, bringing together female leaders from across Illinois during the legislative session in the state House.

The event provided an opportunity for women leaders from various parts of the state to meet under the Capitol dome and participate in discussions during an active legislative period. The gathering aimed to highlight the contributions and leadership of women within Illinois government and communities.

McCombie welcomed attendees with a special address inside the Capitol, emphasizing their importance during this time of legislative activity. She said her goal was to encourage more women to engage with public service and connect with lawmakers.

McCombie, a Republican, was elected to represent Illinois’ 89th House District in 2023, succeeding Andrew Chesney according to official records.

The Women to Watch event is part of ongoing efforts by House Republicans to support women’s involvement in state government. Organizers say such events can help foster mentorship opportunities and inspire future leaders across Illinois.
