House Minority Leader Tony McCombie recognized Teacher Appreciation Day on May 5 by thanking educators in her life and throughout the 89th District.
The day highlights the important role that teachers play in shaping future generations. McCombie said, “On Teacher Appreciation Day, we celebrate the incredible educators who shape and inspire the next generation of learners.”
McCombie shared that teaching is a tradition in her family. “Teaching runs deep in my family—my grandma, aunt, brother, sister, and cousins have all dedicated themselves to this meaningful work. I’m so grateful for the impact they’ve made, both in our lives and in the lives of so many others,” she said.
McCombie was elected as a Republican to represent Illinois’ 89th House District in 2023 after Andrew Chesney served as state representative, according to Ballotpedia.
Teacher Appreciation Day serves as an opportunity for community members to acknowledge those who contribute to education every day.
