Two Illinois Wesleyan players named to All-CCIW women’s lacrosse second team

The Illinois Wesleyan University women’s lacrosse team had two players, Sadie Newton and Sophie Shore, named to the Second Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, according to an April 28 announcement by the conference. Senior Anelise DiGiovanni was also recognized as IWU’s recipient of the CCIW RESPECT award.

These honors reflect notable achievements for the Titans, who finished their season tied for third in the conference with a record of 6-10 overall and 2-3 in CCIW play. The awards highlight individual excellence on a roster that includes student-athletes from freshman through fifth-year classes according to the official website.

Newton earned her second consecutive Second Team All-CCIW honor after leading her team with 13 goals and 15 points during conference games. She also ranked among league leaders in goals per game, points per game, and caused turnovers. Newton was recognized once each as CCIW Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week this season. Shore received her first all-conference recognition by tying for the team lead in ground balls, caused turnovers, and assists while ranking high within league statistics for ground balls per game and caused turnovers per game.
